Total points Space Marines : 1750

The old solid list with more close combat punch. Worked out pretty well in my testgames so far, but that was mostly against Grey Knights and Imperial Guard and 26/51 will be MEQ according to , so we will see how that works out.

I guess pretty good, as the list is geared to kill MEQs. ;)

Grey stuff

Well, they are here. Another chapter of His glorious Adeptus Astartes... and guess who wants to have them now. ;)

Also, the sky is falling. Again. Just read the comments on BoLS (also go there if you want to know the new rules. I won't repeat everything here). Tyranids and Demons go to the shelf, CSM fear for their Demonprinces and OMG, Dark Eldar won't be flavor of the month anymore. We are doomed! Again.

That said, let's look at the models:
Well, who doesn't like the Grey Knight look? Ok, they should have used belt fed storm bolters or at least ammo boxes instead of the sickle-magazines on power armour but you can't get everything right, right? Oh, yeah, Marines... For me it's Marines all the way, no inquisition. For now at least. ;)

On the rules (as far as the leaked codex and the internet are concerned):
Vindicare Assassin:
A 4d6 armor penetration AP1 sniper with 91.67% chance to hit with infiltrate, 4+ ward save, 6+ FNP and stealth for ~150? Well, sign me up. Ok, he is no Grey Knight, sue me. :P

Terminators:
Troop choices, hm? And with frag grenades? Ok..., but do you need them? Strike squads do the same much cheaper and get the same options. They lose the 2+/4++ saves though.

Strike Squads:
24" S5 AP5 Assault 2 psibolt storm bolters with force weapons and psicannons. Hammerhand gives some CC boost. Warp Quake kills my Blood Angel list outright. Mishap within 12"? If you really want to you can cover the whole board with this. First turn, Grand Master with d3 scouting units, spread out and done. Ok, Droppods aren't an option, so I walk on and get shot. Or deploy on the board... and get shot. Demons? Yeah, good luck, maybe someone fails their LD 9 test.

Purifiers:
Your crowdcontrol: multicharge, wound on 4+ before combat, then hit with I6 because of Nemesis force halberds and see if something is still standing. Need a transport though, so:

Stormraven:
Transport for the Purifiers and antitank unit. Always get your cover save with flat out because you have a...

Librarian:
The Shrouding: Stealth within 6" and 3+ cover saves for stormravens moving flat out. Who can still fire one weapon. Yay.
Might of Titan: close combat boost vs vehicles and walkers.
Warp Rift: JotWW without sniping and as a flamer template. Situational I suppose and more to put the fear in the opponent. For the auto penetration on vehicles its a bit to short ranged I wager.
The Summoning: If you really need a unit fast.
Sanctuary: Force dangerous terrain tests, it helps, ask Nightspinner players.

Grand Master:
Get d3 units with scouts or scoring, 3+ Wardsave, powerhouse in close combat. Thank you, next.

Rhinos:
The faithful imperial mobile bunker. Put some power armour guys in or use as LOS blocker.

Let's see a hypothetical list:
Grand Master
Librarian, Warp Rift, Might of Titan, Shrouding, Summoning
2x 10 man Grey Knight Strike Squad, 2 Psicannons, Psibolts
1x 10 man Grey Knight Purifier Squad, 6 Nemesis force halberds, 2 Incinerators, 2 Psicannons
Vindicare Assassin
2 Rhinos
2 Stormravens

Well, that's it. I wonder how that list holds up when I get the final codex with all the options.

Blood Angels still remain the next army to finish. ;)

Nice puppy... Down, boy... ARGH!

Another new army. Space puppies no less... Finally jumped on the all mech las/plas 'backs with flamer grey hunters + jaws bandwaggon?

Well, tempting as it is... ähem, might have been... after 3 chapters riding in their rhinos and pods I've decided to put something on the table that nobody in his right mind would play in 5th edition:

Foot horde.

Ok,... horde..., at least they are all on foot and no vehicles. ;)

I'm still working out the kinks in tournament list, but I got 3 units that will have a place in the final list, and these 3 units are going to the LGV 40k Turnieraufbau 1 (German) tournament. "Tournament" is a little far fetched as it is meant to help you start a new army (and have it all painted at the tournament) by severely limiting your options. The second tournament in the series will be 600 points imho.

Restrictioins:
300 points:
1 troop required, up to 5 optional
Max 1 HQ, max 1 elite, max 1 fast attack, max 1 heavy support

And here for the inevitable 300 reference: "Madness? This is Fenris!!!... I mean Sparta."

Space Wolves: 300
5 Wolfsscouts: Melter, mark of the wulfen 100 points
5 Grey Hunters: flamer, Wolf standard 85 points
5 Long Fangs: 4 missile launchers 115 points

Painting: 15 Models to go ;)

Blood Angels list revised

Did some games with the testlist and found out some things:

- Librarian dreads die like any other dread
- Highly mobile foes evade you if you can't get the drop on them with pods
- 2 scoring units are sometimes not enough
- FNP sucks if your opponent has 8 plasmaguns and always hits 7/8 shots
- Frag cannons are severely underestimated

So, based on that, here is the revised list. Also it's really 1750 points now.

Librarian - Shield of Sanguinius, The Sanguine Sword
- - - > 100 points

*************** 2 Elite ***************
Furioso-Dreadnought - Frag cannon, heavy flamer, droppod
- - - > 170 points

Furioso-Dreadnought - Frag cannon, heavy flamer, droppod
- - - > 170 points

*************** 6 Troops ***************
Assault Squad - 1 meltagun, 1 sergeant with infernuspistol, powerweapon, droppod
- - - > 140 points

Assault Squad - 1 meltagun, 1 sergeant with infernuspistol, powerweapon, droppod
- - - > 140 points

Deathcompany - 10 deathcompanists, 2 powerfists, 4 boltguns, droppod
- - - > 285 points

Deathcompany-Dreadnought - 2 bloodclaws, droppod
- - - > 160 points

Deathcompany-Dreadnought - 2 bloodclaws, droppod
- - - > 160 points

Assault Squad - 1 meltaguns, 1 sergeant with powerweapon, jumppacks
- - - > 125 points

*************** 2 support ***************
Dreadnought - Bloodfist, heavy flamer, multi-melta droppod
- - - > 150 points

Dreadnought - Bloodfist, heavy flamer, multi-melta, droppod
- - - > 150 points

Total points Blood Angels : 1750

For 1850 points the jumppack squad gets 5 more marines with another meltagun.

Why the frag cannons? Well, 2 shots, possibly multiple autohits, ignore cover, most units wounded on 2+, threat to heavily armored foes and tanks up to AV14 with rending and it's FREE. What's not to like. The dreadnought still got his bloodfist and is as durable as an librarian dreadnought but 50 points cheaper.

I just have to figure out how to convert the frag cannons. I guess I could use the leftover seismic hammers or hurricane bolters from my deathcompany/ironclad dreadnoughts. Haven't found any viable conversions for them on the net until now.

Furioso-Dreadnought - Librarian with Wings of Sanguinius, Might of Ancients, droppod

*************** 5 Troops ***************

- - - > 165 points

Dreadnought - Bloodfist, heavy flamer, multi-melta, extra armor, droppod
- - - > 165 points

Total points Blood Angels : 1745

Well, it's dread death from above and yeah, it's 5 points short, but there is nothing useful I could put in the list at this pointlevel. I would change the Librarian Dreadnoughts psychic powers to Fear of the Darkness and Shield of Sanguinius for both of them, but as most tournaments don't allow matching psychic powers I'm going with the close combat powers. Also helps against those pesky fearless units. I'm also going to check if normal Furioso dreads are sufficent to do the job, 100 points are a lot for just the Librarian upgrades.

What does it do?
Drop 5 droppods on the enemy on first turn (2x Deathcompany dread, 1x Deathcompany, 2x Furioso Librarian) and keep the rest back especialy the 2 scoring troops. The list only has 2 scoring units but as they only arrive as reserves and land where I need them. Ok, scatter 2d6 and then land ;) They should be relatively safe. The support dreadnoughts are for mopping up or to kill heavy armor more reliably if its on the board on turn one. Six dreadnoughts should keep any opponent busy, as everything appears where he doesn't want it. Monsterous creature and anti tank heavy lists are going to be a problem though. Still, letting 10 Deathcompany Marines and 2 Bloodclaw Dreadnoughts run rampant in the opponents army is fun no matter the outcome. ;D

For 1850 points the Dreadnought loose extra armor, the Sergeant loose meltabombs and an Assault Squad with jumppack, meltagun and Sergeant with powerweapon is in. Gives me another scoring and highly mobile unit. An alternative would also be two Land Speeders with multi-melta and heavy flamer.

New addition to the chapter family. Take wild guess what army that's going to be. For clarification what this army is going revolve about watch this:

As you can see there is still much to do, but there is still a month to get it done. Otherwise some of the models get the lazy man's treatment and that should do it to call the whole army painted. ;)

I will put some pictures up as soon as I get whole units with their transports finished.

New army

Well, not exactly new as I have been working on it for about a year now. ;P
But my time is limited and I had to finish my Black Templars too and they still got 2 Vindicators left.

The paint scheme is based around the colors green, blue, gold and brown for cloth, shoulder pads and sergeant helmets and thematizes roughly around a Studentenverbindung.

Chapter symbol:

Standard Tactical Space Marine:

Veteran Sergeant:

Terminator:

Pictures and armylist will follow as soon as I got a camera. ;)
